A study of 3-arc graphs

چکیده
An arc of a graph is an oriented edge and a 3-arc is a 4-tuple (v, u, x, y) of vertices such that both (v, u, x) and (u, x, y) are paths of length two. The 3-arc graph of a graph G is defined to have vertices the arcs of G such that two arcs uv, xy are adjacent if and only if (v, u, x, y) is a 3-arc of G. In this paper we study the independence, domination and chromatic numbers of 3-arc graphs and obtain sharp lower and upper bounds for them. We introduce a new notion of arc-coloring of a graph in studying vertex-colorings of 3-arc graphs. Proper Helly Circular-Arc Graphs
A circular-arc model M = (C,A) is a circle C together with a collection A of arcs of C. If no arc is contained in any other then M is a proper circular-arc model, if every arc has the same length then M is a unit circular-arc model and if A satisfies the Helly Property then M is a Helly circular-arc model. A (proper) (unit) (Helly) circular-arc graph is the intersection graph of the arcs of a (...

In this paper we prove that any connected 3-arc graph is Hamiltonian, and all iterative 3-...
متن کاملBridging Semisymmetric and Half-Arc-Transitive Actions on Graphs
A generalization of some of Folkman’s constructions (see (1967) J. Comb. Theory, 3, 215–232) of the so-called semisymmetric graphs, that is regular graphs which are edgebut not vertex-transitive, was given by Marušič and Potočnik (2001, Europ. J. Combinatorics, 22, 333–349) together with a natural connection between graphs admitting 1 2 -arc-transitive group actions and certain graphs admitting...
متن کاملOn symmetries of Cayley graphs and the graphs underlying regular maps
By definition, Cayley graphs are vertex-transitive, and graphs underlying regular or orientably-regular maps (on surfaces) are arc-transitive. This paper addresses questions about how large the automorphism groups of such graphs can be. In particular, it is shown how to construct 3-valent Cayley graphs that are 5-arc-transitive (in answer to a question by Cai Heng Li), and Cayley graphs of vale...
متن کاملDiameter and connectivity of 3-arc graphs
An arc of a graph is an oriented edge and a 3-arc is a 4-tuple (v, u, x, y) of vertices such that both (v, u, x) and (u, x, y) are paths of length two. The 3-arc graph of a given graph G, X(G), is defined to have vertices the arcs of G. Two arcs uv, xy are adjacent in X(G) if and only if (v, u, x, y) is a 3-arc of G. This notion was introduced in recent studies of arc-transitive graphs. In this...
